High School Student Gives Generously to OLP

Every 10th grader at St. Paul Secondary School is required to do a personal project. When

15-year-old Madysen Krone received the assignment, it didn’t take her long to turn her thoughts towards memories of her grandmother, and the time she spent with her during her hospice stay at Our Lady of Peace. With a giving heart and commitment to making a difference in other people’s lives, she set out on a mission to raise money to support other families now walking in her shoes.

Madysen made phone calls to family and friends to request donations for Our Lady of Peace, and this past December, she raised $1,740. “I wanted to do something special for Our Lady of Peace,” she said. “They took good care of my grandma. I was only in 3rd grade, but I remember that they were always very kind and welcoming during a hard time.”

Madysen shed some tears when she left OLP after delivering the check to Development Director Lisa Sweeney. She realized she was carrying on her grandma’s legacy. She said, “Grandma had a giving heart, and I’m taking over her work.”

Job well done, Madysen, and thank you.
