The private suites in our hospice residence are almost ready to greet hospice patients. Staff members who have caught a sneak peek will tell you they are everything we hoped they would be. There is space for families to gather comfortably, surrounded by beautiful colors, artwork, and light. They feel peaceful, and we believe they will serve patients and families well, while in our care.
The interior construction work has been completed, but there are still some minor repairs and touch up work that needs to be done. And we’re awaiting final approval from the City of St. Paul Fire Inspector, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the Minnesota Fire Marshal. Once we obtain these approvals, we can welcome families into the finished private rooms, and move to convert the existing rooms from semi-private to private.
Lobby and guest Lounge
Walking into the OLP lobby is a different experience now with the remodeled welcome desk, fireplace, and beautiful new lounge that welcomes our guests. As we shift to spring, there will be some exterior and landscaping work that will be completed, so the view from the lounge is filled with color and beauty.
Parking lot and covered entrance and grounds
If you’ve been to OLP lately, you’ve most likely parked in our new parking lot and entered through our covered entrance that makes it more comfortable for patients to be admitted, and families to have a more comfortable entry into our building.
The memorial garden and outdoor landscaping that surrounds our building is beginning to bloom. Once assured that snow and freezing temperatures will no longer be in the forecast,
our fountain will be turned on, adding peace and tranquility to our outdoor space.
We’re excited for the future
We launched the Capital Campaign for the renovation of our hospice residence in 2021, and it’s wonderful to now be very close to completion. Thank you for your patience as we’ve prepared to enter a bright future, rooted in the mission that began 83 years ago on the corner of Cleveland and St. Anthony Avenues in St. Paul.
Continuing to provide the compassionate care we’re known for within our hospice residence and in the community, we will meet you with open arms when the time comes for you to come through our door, or we come through yours.
